With seven schools serving over 3,600 PreK-8 grade students, a District Office, a Family Resource Center, our Expanded Learning Program, and more than 600 staff members, District 63 offers a wide range of full-time, part-time, and temporary positions. Substitute Teaching

[PLACEHOLDER CONTENT] Nestled in the vibrant community of Santa Barbara, California, our district is committed to providing exceptional learning opportunities that inspire creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong success for all students.

Substitutes must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Obtain an Illinois Substitute License, valid for teaching PreK-12.

Or- 

  • Be actively enrolled in an approved educator preparation program through a regionally accredited institution in Illinois
  • Have recently completed (within the last semester) at least 90 semester hours of coursework as a part of the approved Illinois educator preparation program

Or-  

  • Obtain a Short-Term Substitute teaching license
  • Short-Term Substitute (STS) Teacher Training is required for individuals who want to pursue a Short-Term Substitute teaching license. Applicants for an STS teaching license must hold an Associate degree or have completed at least 60 credit hours from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

Substitute Pay Rates: 2025-2026

  • Substitute Teacher: $193.00/day
  • Teacher Assistant: $153.00/day
  • Long-Term Substitute Teacher: $342.59/day
  • School Secretary: $23.00/hour
  • Registered Nurse: $48.00/hour
