  • Stevenson Families Explore PetSmart

Posted by Janet Bishop at 1/31/2017

Who wouldn’t want to cuddle a kitten?  Or a puppy? More than 70 Stevenson students and families turned out on January 24 for an after-school “field trip” to the PetSmart Store at Niles’ Four Flags Shopping Center for a chance to do just that.

Part of the school’s ongoing series of trips to local businesses, amenities, and organizations, the PetSmart visit was an incredible success. Participants were able to observe and hold various small pets, and PetSmart staff gave a tour, passed along important information about pet care, and shared fun facts about the animals.

  • Charting Our Community's Course: Make Your Voice Heard

Posted by Janet Bishop at 1/4/2017

Do you live in unincorporated Maine Township? Here’s a chance to make your voice heard.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and Cook County are working on a community plan for the Maine-Northfield unincorporated area, much of which is within District 63’s boundaries. Surrounded by Des Plaines, Glenview, Niles, Morton Grove, and Park Ridge, this large unincorporated area has never benefitted from a thoughtful, strategic plan for growth and development.

    Now is the time.

To create a strong plan that can successfully shape the area for the next decade, resident input is essential and CMAP wants to hear from you! What do you like about our area? What would you change? What are your ideas about flooding, housing, transportation, parks and open space? If you live in the unincorporated area or attend school there, take CMAP’s online survey before January 31.

    Learn more about the plan:

For more information, contact CMAP Project Manager John Carlisle at 312.386.8839, or Cook County Project Liaison James Wilson at 312.603.0544.
